- Dress A Boy Initiative (DABI)

Dress a Boy Initiative is one of the most successful program in POWERHIM
Since inception, we have managed to dress over 396 boys with full uniforms across 6 Schools in Nanyuki in under 3 years.
This is one very effective way to restore the confidence, dignity and smile to our boys. As those with torn clothes usually suffers low self esteem, appear timid and emotionally disturbed. This make them ripe candite of negative vices like drugs abuse and prone to sexual abuse.
DABI is also our way of telling the boys “Hey we really care about you, and want to Walk with you. And this way a conversation is initiated, we open up to each other and yes, we gel and get to know each other better, identify challenges in boy life and respond to address those within our scop and refer those beyond and from this the MAN in the Boy get friends, confidant and necessary support to maneuver through live.
The most recent DABI 6th Edition was held at Muthaiga Primary School on 09/06/2023 celebrating these boys who are our true champions given the challenges they fight very hard, every day to overcome to be in school. Majority would drop out of school under similar circumstance. We dressed over 50 boy through the support of our partners and friend of boy-child within our network taking our benefiaries to 396 boys so far.
This was our sixth edition having already dressed over 396 Boys in previous editions Namely Mlima Kenya Pri, Ndururi Primary, DEB Primary Likii Primary, Bungoma Primary and Muthaiga Primary School all in Nanyuki. We provide to the full uniform at a cost of Ksh 3,000 or $30 per person.
During this DABI events, we always have a Mentorship Session to Boys on Prevention of Drugs and Substance Abuse, Exams Preparedness, Transition to Adulthood and other selected topics.
